Two New and Surprising Ways to Use ChatGPT

AI tools like ChatGPT have evolved far beyond generating generic text. Two emerging applications stand out: using ChatGPT to replicate writing tone and detecting scams in emails or texts.

Mimicking Writing Tone for Consistent Style

One of ChatGPT’s most useful, but overlooked functions is matching tone and voice when given a reference sample. For example, you can upload or paste an existing article and then say: “Please create an article on the benefits of accessible support. Keep the tone similar to the attached article.” ChatGPT will study the phrasing, rhythm, and word choice of your sample and apply that same tone to your new content. It’s a quick, effective way to maintain brand consistency or align with a client’s established communication style.

This technique is especially valuable for marketing teams or agencies juggling multiple clients. Instead of spending hours rewriting drafts to fit each client’s tone—formal, conversational, technical, etc.—you can let ChatGPT handle the first pass. From there, you can refine the text with your human expertise. The result is faster content creation that still sounds uniquely on brand.

Detecting Scams in Emails and Texts

The other side of AI’s usefulness is protection. ChatGPT can help identify potential scams before you fall for them. Just copy and paste a suspicious email or text and ask, “Is this message a scam or phishing attempt?”

ChatGPT can analyze language patterns, sender details, and tone to detect red flags such as urgent language, unfamiliar links, or requests for personal information. It won’t replace a cybersecurity program, but it’s a smart, accessible second opinion—especially when something feels off but you’re not sure why.

This approach is already helping businesses avoid costly mistakes. For example, fake “invoice overdue” emails or bogus “package delivery” texts often look legitimate at first glance. A quick AI review can point out subtle inconsistencies—like domain mismatches or improbable sender addresses—that most people overlook.

So, think of ChatGPT as much more than a tool for generating content; it’s also a valuable safety and productivity tool. Whether you’re fine-tuning your professional writing voice or verifying whether a message is trustworthy, ChatGPT can act as both a creative partner and an extra layer of security.

Used thoughtfully, these two simple techniques can make your everyday workflow faster and safer without the need for coding.
