SMART PR Communications Inc. began in 2002 as Smart Write Inc. – a corporate copywriting business serving mostly technical companies with complex products
and services. This is a market that requires writers to get up to speed quickly, pay careful attention to detail, and translate features and benefits into terms that the
average person can understand. Not surprisingly, most writers either couldn’t or didn’t want to serve this market.
By 2007, many clients were asking for public relations services - such as pitching and placing, so we decided to offer the full range of PR services and change the
name of the company to reflect the PR focus. Because we served as account consultants for several public relations agencies, we could see some areas where we
believed we could outdo most PR consultants – these included:
- Creating PR plans that center on smartly developed key messages
- Creating and religiously following a standard follow-through method
- Embracing emerging trends without abandoning classic strategy
- Adopting print and online marketing tools only when and where they make strategic and financial sense
- Developing relevant strategy-related material and distributing those materials aggressively
- Encouraging clients to focus on thought leadership
- Using strategy to keep costs down without sacrificing results
- Accommodating PR strategy to fit the real world needs of the client's organization
The secrets to PR success are the same as they are for every other business – smart strategy, hard work and follow through. That’s what SMART PR
Communications will always be about.
